Job Overview
Turntide are based in the North East of England and is focused on delivering electrification systems – energy storage, power electronics and advanced electric motors – to deliver emissions-free mobility and industrial machines across global markets.
There is a massive change happening across industrial Transportation. Globally there is a rapid shift to new electrified platforms to meet the demands of their end users looking to reduce carbon emissions and create entirely new product types. Our Turntide for Electrification solutions help ease the customer journey and accelerate their transition.
We are currently hiring for a Commercial Paralegal on a permanent basis.
This role is hybrid at our site in Gateshead, working full-time.
The Commercial Paralegal role reports into Turntide’s General Counsel.
Key Responsibilities
Offer general administrative support to the legal team, including preparing, maintaining, and updating legal documentation, online filing, processing signatures, and managing document databases.
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts for all Turntide entities under supervision.
Handle non-disclosure agreements across the group business.
Conduct legal research.
Provide support to other teams to ensure internal processes are followed correctly.
Assisting with amendments and drafting of template documents, practice notes and checklists.
General proofreading of internal and external documents and identifying legal risk and solutions.
Monitoring market practice/developments in particular areas
Assistance in managing IP Portfolio
Legal research including writing short summaries of legal and regulatory developments and undertaking ad-hoc legal research to support lawyers with technical queries.
Supporting marketing and PR initiatives, including reviewing terms and conditions (under supervision)
Completing requests for work to be delivered through online systems.
Maintaining knowledge intranet pages
Support other teams as needed, such as HR and employment, to ensure the internal processes are followed correctly.
General administrative support to Legal Team including preparing, maintaining and updating legal documentation, maintaining contract databases and records, online filing, processing signatures and document management databases.
Liaise with external law firms when required.
Other legal administrative duties as reasonably requested.
Minor project management tasks
The Requirements
Law graduate with 2:1 Law Degree
A minimum of one year’s experience of working within commercial or corporate law environment
General experience with commercial contracts (drafting & negotiating)
Strong understanding of commercial contracts and legal terminology
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Experience in a law firm and/or in-house, preferably with some European and/or US exposure. Interest in commercial law and intellectual property
Positive attitude and the ability to work concurrently on a variety of projects, effectively prioritize and work under demanding deadlines with a “can do” attitude is essential.
Good research skills and analytical, pragmatic thinker
Excellent communicator and ability to build relationships, take instructions from, and interact with a variety of employees and Snr Managers within the business.
Excellent written English and Attention to Detail
Ability to work independently and manage own projects and deadlines
Sound IT skills, including good working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint
Bonus Points
Experience in the technology industry.
