About Tyba

Tyba provides bidding and project simulation software for companies building and operating renewable energy and storage projects. Our customers use our modeling software for critical decision-making, from the early-stage siting of power plants to the daily operations of energy storage and renewable projects in wholesale power markets. We support the energy transition by helping our customers build and operate more profitable projects, and we measure our success by the MWs deployed and operated by our customers.

We are looking for team members who love working directly with customers on technical problems and are eager to shape the culture of a collaborative and fast-growing team. You will join a team with deep experience in modeling, software development, and energy backed by leading investors in the climate, energy, and software sectors. We have offices in Los Angeles, Oakland, and remote team members across the US.

The role

Tyba is seeking a pragmatic and conscientious People Operations Generalist to help build and execute scalable People processes as we grow. Our team is our most significant competitive advantage, and we are looking for our first People/HR hire to help us implement and iterate our growth and cultural initiatives. You would be responsible for developing strategies and methods to help foster growth at the company and create a best-in-class experience for recruiting, hiring, and supporting talent. As such, this role would be a mix of recruiting & people. This hire will report to the CEO and work directly with founders and leaders at our company.

Responsibilities:

    • Manage and maintain employee data across People and Recruiting tools throughout the employee lifecycle.
    • Streamline processes with our People tools (Gusto, Carta, Pave, Notion, etc.)
    • Own employee benefits, manage enrollment, address inquiries, and ensure our packages remain competitive.
    • Operationalize our performance management system and processes.
    • Maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefit laws/regulation.
    • Be the point of contact for employee questions and matters related to benefits, leave policy, employee relations, and company policies.
  • Recruiting:
    • Build and run end-to-end recruiting processes alongside hiring managers and outsourced recruiting resources, helping to create a seamless candidate experience, and selecting/implementing an ATS.
    • Support sourcing, screening, and coordination of candidates across company functions.
    • Lead hiring, onboarding, and administrative processes to help set teammates up for success.
  • As a small start-up, we all wear multiple hats. This role will also involve helping to plan company events and offsites, drive forward company culture initiatives, and employee communications.

What we’re looking for:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a People, Recruiting, or HR-related role.
  • Familiarity with HR Tools such as Gusto, Rippling, Carta, and Pave.
  • Demonstrated integrity, resourcefulness, and expert communication skills.
  • Experience building processes from scratch and comfort in navigating ambiguity and prioritizing amid shifting priorities.

Compensation and benefits:

  • Salary: $75-$130k, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Benefits: Parental leave, medical benefits, unlimited PTO, and a bakery below our HQ.
  • Equity Options: Opportunity to own a stake in the company through an employee stock option plan.
  • Flexible Work Environment: Hybrid work model, remote work options, and team offsites.
