The Sr. Reliability Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the consistent performance, availability, and longevity of manufacturing equipment and production systems at our West Union, South Carolina facility. This role partners closely with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to drive accountable, data‑driven improvements that support the reliable production of smart meters. With a customer‑centric and collaborative mindset, the Reliability Engineer builds reliability into equipment, processes, and systems while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and innovation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Applied proficiency in problem solving skills to apply permanent preventative and corrective actions to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity and Cost.
  • Implement project management standards and skill sets to manage mid to large projects on time and on budget.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while supporting day to day support of operations.
  • Drive reliability and uptime of manufacturing equipment, production lines, and supporting systems at the West Union, SC facility where smart meters and related technologies are manufactured.
  • Partner collaboratively with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to identify reliability risks, improve equipment performance, and support consistent delivery of high‑quality products to customers.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to enhance equipment availability, throughput, and product quality in an agile manufacturing environment.
  • Analyze equipment failures and production interruptions using data‑driven methods, leading root cause analyses and corrective actions with accountability and a focus on sustainable solutions.
  • Leverage CMMS, manufacturing data, and reliability metrics to monitor asset health, track trends, and recommend innovative improvements to processes, tooling, and equipment design.
  • Support new equipment introductions, process changes, and automation initiatives by ensuring reliability, maintainability, and safety are built into designs from the start.
  • Collaborate authentically with cross‑functional teams to support compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards while maintaining a customer‑centric focus on delivering reliable smart meter products.
  • Document reliability standards, best practices, and lessons learned, and mentor team members to foster a culture of continuous improvement and shared ownership of equipment reliability.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field) or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a reliability, maintenance, or manufacturing engineering role within a production or industrial environment.
  • Hands‑on experience supporting manufacturing equipment, automation systems, or production lines, with a strong focus on reliability, uptime, and quality.
  • Working knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Experience using CMMS systems and manufacturing data to drive accountable, data‑based reliability decisions.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively across operations, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to diverse audiences in an authentic and collaborative manner.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience in electronics, smart device, or meter manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, industrial controls, sensors, and automated manufacturing systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Experience supporting equipment qualification, process validation, and new product or equipment launches.
  • Understanding of safety, quality, and regulatory requirements applicable to manufacturing operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast‑paced, agile production environment while maintaining a strong customer‑centric and innovative mindset.
