We are looking for an experienced Senior Front End Software Engineer to help us design and build a state of the art user experience that will streamline the use of our product and enable our customers to seamlessly integrate our data into their workflows. In this role, you will use your experience in React to overhaul our existing product while applying your leadership skills to drive sustainable practices and architecture.

We have been fully remote since 2019 and provide flexible working hours. We are mission-driven and prioritize work in service of the renewable energy transition as well as in service to our teammates. We believe that empathy, combined with excellence, leads to a highly effective team.

Our stack consists of Python, Django, and Javascript, running on Nginx, Postgres, and Redis, hosted on AWS. We manage work using Jira and Github, and communicate using Slack.

What you’ll do:

  • Use React and other front-end technologies to build, implement, test, and deploy new front end experiences for UtilityAPI
  • Work closely with product management and design to develop and refine the future of UtilityAPI’s UX
  • Define a scalable, modern front-end architecture to serve UtilityAPI’s goals of rapid iteration and scaling
  • Mentor and guide other engineers to improve their skills and improve the platform through pair coding, code reviews, and leading by example.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and provide input on prioritization and technical plans.
  • Work with the Principal Engineering team to align team projects with the goals of the overall engineering organization.
  • Provide feedback on the SDLC and other processes.

Your experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with 3+ years using React in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated experience selecting, implementing, and deploying front end technologies to achieve specific product goals
  • Demonstrated experience with medium to large projects and breaking down those projects into smaller, actionable tasks
  • Demonstrated experience making proactive recommendations about a code base or software product, and making a business case for those recommendations
  • Desire to and experience mentoring less experienced engineers and helping others around you grow in their careers
