Position Overview

The Assistant Production Manager supports daily production operations within our modular manufacturing facility. This role works closely with department Team Leaders to ensure production visibility, accuracy, safety, quality, workforce development, and housekeeping standards are consistently met. The ideal candidate is a strong floor leader who thrives in an organized, data‑driven environment and helps drive results through people and process.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Scheduling Support

  • Support daily production operations to ensure units move on schedule and bottlenecks are addressed proactively
  • Ensure production movements, sequencing, and unit status are accurately tracked and communicated
  • Partner with Team Leaders to ensure standard work checks are completed consistently across departments

Production Tracking & Systems

  • Maintain accurate daily updates in production tracking systems, including:
  • Online/offline dates for each unit
  • Material shortages and resolution updates
  • Completion dates and current yard inventory
  • Ensure production boards and systems are accurate and used as the single source of truth

Materials & Coordination

  • Work closely with Purchasing, Engineering, and Production teams to resolve material shortages
  • Ensure shortages are identified early and communicated clearly
  • Support smooth coordination between departments to minimize disruptions

Safety & Quality Leadership

  • Partner with Safety and Quality teams to support department goals and initiatives
  • Reinforce safe work practices and quality standards on the production floor
  • Assist in identifying potential risks and supporting corrective actions

Housekeeping & Organization

  • Ensure all production areas and workstations remain clean, organized, and compliant with housekeeping standards
  • Conduct regular floor walks and reinforce expectations daily

Team Leadership & Development

  • Support Team Leaders with coaching, accountability, and workforce development
  • Ensure monthly employee ratings are completed
  • Support quarterly evaluations to track development, training progress, and fair compensation decisions

Continuous Improvement

  • Support plant layout improvements and workflow optimization
  • Provide status updates on layout implementation timelines
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, safety, and quality

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or modular construction
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of production operations, safety, and quality standards
  • Comfortable using production tracking software and tools
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work on the production floor
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move materials as required
