Position Overview

The HR & Recruiting Manager will lead Vatn Systems’ human resources and talent acquisition functions, supporting our continued growth and commitment to a world-class team culture. This role combines strategic HR leadership with hands-on recruiting and people operations management. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic, technical, and mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition

  • Own the full-cycle recruiting process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Partner with technical and operational leaders to define hiring needs and build strong candidate pipelines across engineering, manufacturing, and business functions.
  • Develop and maintain recruiting metrics and analytics to guide data-driven hiring decisions.
  • Manage employer branding, job postings, and candidate experience to reflect Vatn’s mission and values.

Human Resources Operations

  • Oversee all HR operations, including employee records, benefits administration, and compliance with state and federal labor laws.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
  • Support performance management processes, compensation reviews, and workforce planning.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on organizational design, employee relations, and people strategy.

Culture, Engagement & Development

  • Champion Vatn’s values and help cultivate a high-performing, inclusive workplace culture.
  • Design and implement training, development, and recognition programs.
  • Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across all levels of the company.
  • Lead employee engagement efforts, including surveys, feedback programs, and team-building initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of progressive HR and recruiting experience, ideally in a startup, engineering, or technology environment.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, scaling organization.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with HRIS and ATS platforms (e.g., BambooHR, Greenhouse, Gusto, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR certification.
  • Experience supporting technical recruiting for robotics, aerospace, or defense industries.
  • Background in developing HR infrastructure and processes in an early-stage company.
