Vatn Systems is a startup building affordable autonomous underwater vehicles.

The Role

We are seeking an Undersea Acoustics Engineering Intern to join our team developing, integrating and testing SONAR and undersea acoustic systems for our AUV’s. We expect you’ll be contributing to sonar signal processing algorithm development, undersea acoustic data collection and analysis, sonar hardware configuration/testing and at-sea experiments with our vehicles. Additionally, you will work cross functional with software autonomy, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and GNC teams. If you have broad and interdisciplinary technical interests, this could be a good role for you.

Requirements

  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Ocean Engineering, Electrical

Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics or related

STEM field.

  • Python or MATLAB programming experience developing algorithms
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing fundamentals
  • Completed a courses in Linear Algebra and Multivariable Calculus
  • Ability to troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems utilizing electrical bench test

equipment and mechanical hand tools

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a fast-paced R&D environment

These Things Would Be a Plus

  • Knowledge of undersea acoustics fundamentals
  • Knowledge of robotics fundamentals
  • Completed a course in Applied Probability and/or Estimation Theory
  • Embedded programming experience
  • ROS development experience
  • C++ development experience
  • Knowledge of machine learning fundamentals and development frameworks
  • Linux environment development experience
