Giving everyone in the world access to clean, reliable, affordable energy will require substantial expansion of global electricity transmission networks. VEIR is developing a new generation of High Temperature Superconductor (HTS)-based transmission lines, enabling long distance, reliable, low loss, cost–effective power transfer in far smaller right–of–ways. VEIR’s innovations overcome the main barriers to transmission expansion, enabling the world to access the very lowest cost renewable power.
THE ROLE:
VEIR is seeking an experienced Procurement Coordinator to join our growing team. The Procurement Coordinator will be responsible for procuring materials, equipment, and services necessary for VEIR’s operations. This role involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating cost, and ensuring the timely delivery of quality products at competitive prices. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, be experienced in procurement, and be a collaborative team member with strong service-orientation and communication skills. This is an exciting opportunity at a dynamic startup driving global decarbonatization and grid resilience.
This position will be based at VEIR's headquarters in Woburn, MA, and report to the Manager, Supply Chain.
In this role you will...
Manage Sourcing, Procurement, and Inventory by:
• Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers
• Conducting market research to stay updated on industry trends and pricing
• Managing and monitoring supplier performance to ensure quality and cost effectiveness
• Tracking and reporting on procurement metrics and performance indicators
• Collaborating cross-functionally to monitor inventory levels and coordinate orders to prevent shortages or overstock
• Implementing strategies for cost reduction and efficiency improvement
• Ensuring all procured materials meet the required specifications and quality standards
• Resolving any issues related to defective or substandard products
To be successful in this role...
• You have at least 3-5 years of experience as a Purchaser/Buyer, preferably in hardware manufacturing
• You have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills across all levels of staff and with external stakeholders
• You are highly motivated and detail-oriented with a positive approach to problem solving and a commitment to accuracy
• You are able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, startup environment.
• You are highly organized, and have a track record of developing and implementing efficient processes
