This position will report to Regional PAR Manager and Controller, R&A SET Chennai, India.

  • This role also includes managing complex transitions and hence prior knowledge of Shell’s Trading business would be desirable, though not mandatory.

Key accountabilities include:

The primary role is to ensure all accounting and reporting activities are effectively delivered. The candidate is primarily responsible for financial accounting and reporting as well as providing an overall oversight to ensure compliance with Group Reporting guidelines (GFRM) and IFRS.

The role requires working collaboratively with primary stakeholders in Group Reporting, Finance Managers in the business, PAR, Internal and External Auditors, other Functions such as Legal, Tax, Treasury and other process areas within Finance Operations.

The incumbent will be accountable to manage the R1 submissions and statutory reporting of focals who are in the The role also expects the person to drive the R&A aspiration agenda for the following:

  • World Class Close

  • Insightful Commentaries

  • Drive digitalization initiatives

  • First Time Right

  • Build and manage relationships with external auditors to ensure efficient statutory audit compliance without incurring audit cost overruns.

  • Ensure seamless coordination and collaboration with other LSR/MDT team/ Other FO Teams

  • Manages workloads, multiple demands, and competing priorities to ensure deadlines are met while maintaining a high quality and integrity of data.

  • Focus on continuous improvement opportunities in process and content and identifies and actions opportunities to reduce complexity, promote best practice and improve process efficiency.

Skills and Requirements

  • A qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent with a minimum of 0 to 2 years of experience post qualification, knowledge of various ERP systems used in the Shell Group and Excellent MS Office skills.

  • In-depth understanding local statutory reporting, along with knowledge of Shell group reporting and direct tax compliance process.

  • Sound accounting concepts, excellent technical accounting (IFRS definitely and other Country GAAPs would be most useful), as well as strong analytical capability. Prior Trading experience would be useful, though not essential.

  • Expertise in building up and maintaining excellent relationships with multiple stakeholders across geographies and departments.

  • Interacting with senior finance staff at country and regional level, work with junior commercial/other business stakeholders as needed.

  • Knowledge of T&S business and finance processes & demonstrate ability to convert business requirements into standard processes.

  • Strong knowledge of SAP connected applications.

  • Passion and sense of urgency for executing performance improvement / continuous improvement projects and standardization across process and data.

  • Strong communication and articulation skills.
