Risk PDS Transformation Lead

The Risk function for T&S is on a significant transformation journey to strengthen our second line of defence, risk management capabilities focusing on people, processes and systems at the same time as significant investment in first line risk management embedded in the businesses.
This role, in Risk Transformation and PDS is key to this. The primary responsibility of this role will be to design, develop and manage an automation plan and projects for the T&S Risk organization. This role will work closely with a counterpart in the US, UK and India to own the full life cycle of Process Data Systems (PDS) and Transformation of Risk management from identifying automation opportunities, gathering requirements, implementing, testing and deploying targeted automation solutions using Shell approved RPA tools.
Additionally, this role will establish best practices for use with RPA capabilities. For processes outside the scope of RPA, this role will look for additional opportunities to find ways to create information algorithms and process heuristics.
Market Risk is a specialized unit in ERA – Finance and Data Operations that operates in Chennai, Bangalore and Manila centers. The team has front-line responsibility for risk measurement, deal valuation, exposure reporting and price validation. This department pulls together a range of expert skills that ensure accurate and timely reporting, and allow Market Risk to offer professional advice on the wide range of issues that it gets involved in. This role’s responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Deliver risk transformation projects and PDS initiatives
Understand and develop tools or implement technology-based solutions to improve the risk capabilities that would support Risk Reporting.
Regular communication with different teams like MRA, MRO, Commercial team etc. to align strategies and objectives.
Understand Systems data landscape and different data layers like Azure, or other Shell approved applications to enable historical analysis and financial control operations.
Prepare detailed technical solution design documents.
Work closely with Transformation Change and Engage Lead to ensure robust communication and socialization for process changes and awareness of results. Help support development of the Market Risk plans together with the multi-year roadmap for investment in systems and technology.
Report transformation:
Automating manual reporting processes to reduce errors and save time.
Standardizing reports to ensure consistency across the organization.
Implementing technology-based solutions to facilitate real-time reporting and dynamic data analysis.
ETRM Implementation Programs
Support in deploying robust ETRM platforms that integrate seamlessly with existing systems.
Ensuring these platforms support comprehensive risk reporting and analysis.
Regularly updating and maintaining systems to adapt to changing market conditions and MRFO requirements.
Interfaces: Multiple stakeholders including:
Risk Transformation Team, Market Risk teams, CRO Leadership Team, Shell IT, PDS teams and PDT teams
Risk Change and Engage Lead
Risk Transformation Governance and PMO lead
Qualifications required:
Minimum 5 years in Market Risk
Risk management knowledge or experience is a requirement preferably with a commodity trading desk
An undergraduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Science, Finance or Economics. A Master’s degree is preferred but not required
Experience with risk analysis, value-at-risk, financial derivatives or physical energy markets
A good understanding of the Trading landscape with associated risks and operational knowledge of Shell Trading’s systems and processes is required
A good understanding of Commodity Markets business and familiarity with spot price assessments, forward curve methodologies, swap markets, and basics of options would be valuable
Working knowledge of T&S Risk Management landscape or other commodity trading desks
The ideal candidate will be highly numerate, logical, can prioritize and multi-task, and be comfortable working with teams
Other Competences Required:
Project management, handled complex projects
Experience with Process Analysis, Design, and Implementation, Business and Technical requirements, Problem-Solving, and System(s) Testing, including UAT and Bug fixes
Strong understanding of Business Process Management techniques and notation
Basic understanding of Lean Six Sigma process methodologies
Expert is data visualization and story telling
