Work on Climate (WoCl) is a leading non-profit focused on mobilizing humanity’s talent to build a regenerative, climate-positive economy. We’re now supporting professionals to engage in climate leadership — organizing, mobilizing, and transforming sectors and regions. We create a culture that makes volunteers happy and proud to contribute. Team of 7, geo-located in the USA and UK. Standard meeting time: Tuesdays at 11:30 am PST.Role Summary: A volunteer recruiter identifies and engages potential volunteers and matches them with suitable opportunities within our organization.Time Commitment: • 5 hours/week consistently for the next 6+ months (minimum 6 months)What’s In It For Me? • Pivotal role directly impacting talent entering climate • Network with highly qualified people taking climate action • Encourage new members to join our 50+ volunteer team • Provide a highly valued service to every team lead • Influence the development of the world’s largest climate community of its kind • Gain visibility into a wealth of knowledge, individuals, and opportunities in climateWhat Will I Do? • Develop and implement a volunteer recruitment strategy • Identify new recruitment sources and maintain relationships • Promote volunteer opportunities via multiple channels (social, events, partnerships) • Screen/interview potential volunteers; assess skills, interests, availability • Match volunteers to suitable opportunities • Support orientation and training; serve as liaison throughout the experience • Maintain accurate records of applications, placements, hours, and feedback • Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements • Collaborate cross-functionally to align recruitment with org goals • Stay current on best practices in volunteer recruitment and engagementWhat Skills & Commitment Do I Need? • Previous recruiting or related outward-facing networking experience (HR/People Ops/volunteer recruiting) is a plus • Strong interpersonal/communication skills and commitment to WoCl’s mission • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and think creatively about recruitment strategies • Extreme ownership and comfort working asynchronously as part of leadership • Advanced Asana skills are a plusCommon Challenges: • Gauging commitment from volunteers; aiming for 6-month commitments • Scheduling interviews across time zones • Potential need to expand into leadership/management as the role evolves • Seeking resourceful, well-networked, creative thinkers to attract qualified volunteers • While supported by a team (3 other recruiters), you must be self-directedI’m Interested!
