Work on Climate (WoCl) is a leading non-profit focused on mobilizing humanity’s talent to build a regenerative, climate-positive economy. About the team: The Organizer Support team makes chapter-based coordination scalable by getting to know organizers, learning their needs, and figuring out the best ways to meet them; helps organizers learn from each other, identify patterns across chapters, and transfer knowledge. Weekly meeting: Wednesdays 10:00 am PT / 1:00 pm ET / 6:00 pm BST. Role summary: Provide direct support to chapter organizers through regular check-ins, resource development, and pattern identification; create toolkits and frameworks that scale; build organizer support infrastructure as we scale from individual organizers to multi-chapter best practices. Time commitment: ~5 hours/week; ~1 hour weekly team meeting. Why volunteer: learn organizational development practices; work with organizers to solve problems; build a strong climate network; collaborate with passionate teammates. What will I do? Build and sustain relationships with chapter leaders; identify and document patterns across organizers; bring organizer needs back to the team to problem-solve; foster engagement, trust, and mutual support; co-develop tools/systems and deconstruct into replicable templates; document and manage organizer relationships/resources; create documentation, training, and toolkits (onboarding workflows, meeting coordination, outreach frameworks); contribute to shared documentation and infrastructure design. What skills and commitment do I need? Highly self-motivated; experience facilitating 1:1 conversations or coaching (mentoring, management, teaching, facilitation); strong documentation skills; systems thinking; comfort with asynchronous tools (Slack, Loom); project management to track multiple needs; emotional intelligence and active listening; community organizing is a plus. Common challenges: triage needs during high-stress periods; knowing when to step back vs provide hands-on support; co-creating across diverse regions and sectors with rapid iteration.
