Work on Climate (WoCl) is a leading non-profit focused on mobilizing humanity’s talent to build a regenerative, climate-positive economy. You probably know us for our online community — the world’s largest climate career and action community — which has helped thousands of people find climate jobs, start companies, and build impactful networks. We’ve been featured in Fast Company, the New York Times, Wired, and more. Our work is entering a new chapter beyond helping individuals find climate jobs. We’re now supporting professionals to engage in climate leadership — organizing, mobilizing, and transforming whole sectors and regions toward regenerative futures, through regional chapters of issue-focused work. (Read more about this transition in our announcement post). About the team Currently, our Marketing team is 5 total members geo located across Europe and North America. Our standard meeting schedule is on Thursdays, 11:00am PT. Role Summary As the Marketing Team Co-Lead, you will play a crucial role in marketing the Work on Climate’s core initiatives and programs. It will be your responsibility to ensure that all messaging is high quality and consistent in terms of voice, tone, and branding. If you have a passion for our mission and experience leading teams and marketing projects, we want to hear from you! ⏰ Time commitment 5-8 hours/week consistently for the next 6+ months (We’d like a minimum of 6 months, and love it when volunteers stay on longer). 🎁 What’s in it for me? In addition to playing a critical role in enabling the climate talent transition, you will get to: - Build a strong climate network in your area of interest - Collaborate with top-notch teammates passionate about climate - A great line on your resume! Employers know and respect us. 🛠️ What will I do? In short, you will help co-lead the Marketing team to success! Though each Team Lead will bring their own unique flair to the role, the core responsibilities of the Marketing Team Lead are: - Managing the volunteer team members needed to accomplish your team’s quarterly objectives at a high bar of excellence - Overseeing all Marketing efforts for events/programs and ecosystem initiatives (such as Working Groups and the Climate Work Coalition) for WoCl - Collaborating with other teams to produce marketing assets - Own and run our social media accounts (mainly LinkedIn) - Ensures that all WoCl messaging is excellent and consistently follows established branding guidelines ✅ What skills and commitment do I need? The most effective candidates for the Team Lead are those that have: - 5 years experience managing projects and/or people with a marketing focus – this is a management role - An understanding of how to prioritize marketing initiatives for a small organization - A “founder mindset” – doing whatever it takes and learning whatever skills are needed to accomplish the goals of the mentorship program. - Dependability and ability to roll up your sleeves. The natural tendency in volunteer projects is for things to slip through the cracks, and as Team Lead, the buck will stop at you. - Excellent individual and group communication skills, ability to work with and lead people of different work and communication styles - Good intuition for group dynamics and how people might respond to different kinds of programs, events, and messaging - Ability to show up consistently and lead weekly calls to build relationships, assign tasks and carry project work forward 🤔 Common Challenges - Finding the right volunteers on an adequate timeline to reach success. - Creating consistent, quality messaging that is on brand can be a challenge with an ever-changing volunteer team, it requires a lot of oversight - Measuring key outcomes and determining what success looks like using data analytics and trackable data ✋🏽 I’m interested! What do I do? Yay! We’re excited to learn more about you. Please fill out this application form to tell us about your skills and interests in volunteering with our awesome team. If you are selected for an interview, our team will be in touch in 1-2 weeks.
