Work on Climate (WoCl) is a leading non-profit focused on mobilizing humanity’s talent to build a regenerative, climate-positive economy. You probably know us for our online community — the world’s largest climate career and action community — which has helped thousands of people find climate jobs, start companies, and build impactful networks. We’ve been featured in Fast Company, the New York Times, Wired, and more. Our work is entering a new chapter beyond helping individuals find climate jobs. We’re now supporting professionals to engage in climate leadership — organizing, mobilizing, and transforming whole sectors and regions toward regenerative futures, through regional chapters of issue-focused work. (Read more about this transition in our announcement post). About the team On the Mentorship Team, we’re revamping the expert office hours mentorship program to reflect our focus on our common goal of helping everyone bring their whole talent to foster the regenerative economy. This program enables people to book time with experts in climate and get learn how you can spark systemic change, build collective power and amplify the work of others on the same path. We have provided 600+ hours of mentorship through this program – both the experts and the mentees get lots from the conversations. We currently have only 2 of us in the team located in Europe, so we are looking to grow to to at least a couple more in different time zones preferably. Overall our mission is to make the Mentorship program a pivotal experience for Mentees and ensure our Mentors are also learning and feel valued. Role summary This is about creating a meaningful and powerful experience for Mentors and Mentees at a pivotal moment in their careers or engagement with climate action. We want people who are focused on the quality of experience, as well as reaching as many people as possible. As a team we look after: - Mentors / Experts providing their time, expertise, advice and support for free - Mentees who book time with Mentors directly - The program overall including marketing, feedback, quality of experience, and overall effectiveness for the WoCl mission With support from the Mentorship Team Leader and other team members the role could be varied with tasks broken down into manageable elements. We would aim to be a highly collaborative and learning team, deciding together what we work on, and adapt to the time and skills we can offer. ⏰ Time commitment This role is highly impactful and rewarding, but we want to be upfront that our most successful volunteers dedicate: - 5 hours/week consistently and commitment to this role as a long-term volunteer position - Attendance at the required weekly team meetings 💚 Why volunteer with Work on Climate? You will need to be highly self-motivated and capable of breaking down large tasks into smaller components, prioritizing your work, and identifying when you need help (and asking for it!). Approach & Mindset - Be a team player and focused on making the Mentorship program even better together - Ability to contribute reliably each week and participate in Tuesday team meetings - Be extremely independent and dependable, “manage up” rather than expect to be managed - Interest in growing your experience in making a key program even more impactful Skills & Experience - We need a variety of skills: project management, marketing, self-management, reviewing feedback and data, interviewing, listening and engaging etc. Tell us what you can bring - Have experience with coordinating and implementing programs that connect or engage people or managing a community – or want to learn how to - Experience in building community programs like ours is a plus - Be able to quickly learn new tools and tasks.
