The Role

Xos is hiring a driven and detail-oriented Buyer to be responsible for selecting and purchasing quality products for our business. Your responsibilities will include processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, creating and maintaining an inventory, quality assurance, and liaising with inventory teams and management. As a Buyer, you will also work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand.

As a Buyer, you should be analytically minded and possess excellent negotiation skills to secure the best prices according to budget. Knowledge of sales and marketing principles is advantageous.

*Position is based out of Xos Manufacturing Plant in Byrdstown, TN*

Responsibilities

  • Act as representative of Xos to suppliers, and interprets Xos Company procedures such as RFI/RFQ process
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives for cost, quality, and delivery
  • Executes purchase orders and follows through delivery
  • Maintains the current status of all raw materials and purchased component shortages that affect or will affect production
  • Review and maintain the accuracy of delivery dates for purchase orders with suppliers
  • Backup and support Buyers within the group with assigned tasks
  • Review and maintain the accuracy of delivery dates for purchase orders with suppliers
  • Reconcile invoices and take action to ensure suppliers are paid in a timely fashion
  • Work with engineering and production staff to determine needs and specification of items ordered
  • Monitors suppliers' performance and quickly addresses and resolves gaps
  • Builds and maintains positive and long-term supplier relationships
  • Organizes and maintains relative data pertaining to costs, budgets, sourcing activities, and supplier performance on ERP system
  • Prepares and delivers presentations to the leadership team regarding plans, status, sourcing, and spend decisions
  • Works collaboratively with Xos team members to refine and execute sourcing and negotiation strategies with Suppliers
  • Performs other duties as needed

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of procurement experience or B.S. in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business or related field
  • Knowledge of Procurement principles, including strategic sourcing and legal aspects of purchasing
  • Knowledge of materials, products, manufacturing processes, and market conditions in area of specialization
  • Skill to understand supplier cost breakdown and challenge supplier assumptions based on understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Skill in complex communications, such as negotiation and problem resolution
  • Knowledge of ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a challenging and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needs
  • Strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence and data-driven decision making
  • Works well on projects on their own as well as with a team, able to clearly communicate ideas
  • Travel may be required: 10-20%
