The Role

Xos has a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring Manufacturing Engineer to join us on a fixed term in supporting the manufacturing team's efforts to design best-in-class manufacturing processes and create training documents to explain the process of building a Xos Hub & Chassis. This includes managing CAD data to understand and define the process of building a truck and creating illustrations in Visual Factory.

The Manufacturing Engineer is critical to the Vehicle & HUB Manufacturing process and will work with multidisciplinary teams such as Manufacturing, Design, Quality, Supply Chain, and Change Management to ensure every vehicle is assembled to Xos specifications.

**This is an on-site based opportunity at our Byrdstown, Tennessee facility**

Responsibilities

  • Establish and document complex process work sequences using CAD and Visual Factory MES systems.
  • Perform concept and design of fixtures and jigs.
  • Resolve internal and external quality issues in a team environment via error proofing, training, and process controls
  • Employ lean manufacturing principles to perform process balancing for optimum efficiency.
  • Design, develop, and implement existing Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) applications to streamline production processes which include assembly data attributes, traceability, and component error proofing.
  • Lead manufacturing team in quality and processing reviews during prototype builds and major changes.
  • Plan for expansion of capacity during ramp-up.
  • Lead and assist production in all quality and process related to mechanical topics and issues.
  • Work closely with the Chassis development team to provide DFM input for new vehicle designs.
  • Day to day support of production line equipment: respond to alarms, breakdowns, and production requests quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime.
  • Facilitate and lead diagnoses of root causes for functional or building issues.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering or related technical discipline or equivalent proven work experience as a Manufacturing Engineer in a process sequence defining role
  • 2-3 years of experience in lean manufacturing and process efficiency measurements and improvements
  • Catia experience is a plus.
  • Work Instruction creation experience preferred.
  • Simultaneous engineering participation is required to drive the best manufacturing principles into the engineering of the truck
  • Detailed and organized.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow.
  • Prior work experience in the automotive or truck industry is preferred.
  • Experience in GSuite preferred (Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc.

Work Environment

This job generally operates in a professional office and parts warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and some warehouse equipment if needed such as pallet and pallet jack, etc. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
