The Role

Xos is hiring a Service Quality Engineer that will serve as the critical technical link between the service/warranty teams and the engineering department, focused on driving product reliability and serviceability improvements for Xos vehicles. This role is responsible for collecting and analyzing field data, identifying root causes of product failures, coordinating corrective actions, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The Service Quality Engineer will also play a key role in developing and managing Service Bill of Materials (SBOMs) and ensuring the serviceability is embedded into the product design and manufacturing process.

**This is an onsite position based at our Byrdstown, TN Manufacturing Plant**

What You'll Do:

  • Own end-to-end operations related to SBOM development and change management.
  • Build and maintain BOMs, with emphasis in SBOMs, in support downstream applications and processes and coordinate with other BOM stakeholders.
  • Work cross functionally with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing to identify and optimize serviceable components and processes to improve "Design for Service"
  • Support the design, evaluation, and improvement of new products as well as existing components and/or systems.
  • Conduct analysis and modeling, engage in product design, develop, and execute testing procedures, and participate in facilities engineering work.
  • Participate in technical work such as performance and data analysis, parts measurements, tools and fixtures calibration, and equipment validation.
  • Provide detailed feedback to Service and Engineering departments when applicable of any issues that arise.
  • Report on repeated issues that are found in service.
  • Assist the service team with diagnostic using vehicle telematics.
  • Follow up with suppliers on quality issues that are found and ensure parts are returned to suppliers for warranty.
  • Travel to service and manufacturing partners on an as needed basis acting as the subject matter expert to resolve difficult issues, reporting on the results, and implementing changes to ensure stakeholders are properly informed to avoid recurrence.
  • Domestic travel with overnight stays as needed for responsibilities

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a service, quality, or product engineering role
  • Strong working knowledge of Service BOMs is required
  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills
  • Experience in fast-paced or start-up environments preferred
  • Comfortable working onsite and supporting cross-functional teams on the manufacturing floor
  • Bonus Points:
    • Corporate or national level service and parts experience
    • Familiarity with vehicle telematics and remote diagnostics

Work Environment

This job generally operates in a plant environment as well as a professional office environment and engineering Laboratory facilities. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers and filing cabinets as well as specialized engineering testing hardware such as test stands, wiring tools, electronic cards and testing equipment. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud depending on the equipment being used at an specific moment but under normal circumstances.
