Overview

The ideal candidate will have high level financial modeling skills, a firm understanding of finance and accounting concepts, superb analytical abilities, excellent customer service skills and a veracious appetite for learning and improvement. The ideal candidate is an effective presenter and can balance getting the details right while moving quickly in a results-driven environment. In this highly visible role, the candidate will support the needs of key executives, members of management, and investor stakeholders. Over time, this candidate must have the capability and flexibility to provide financial support across various finance roles including our manufacturing operations, in the management of our bill of material or in developing our future airline business

Responsibilities

  • Manage the current cost estimates of a complex bill of material, including raw materials, purchased components, labor and overheads
  • Own the forecast of the bill of material, incorporating current costs and expected changes.
  • Comprehensively understand the actual costs against the estimates and movements between forecasts, including researching underlying drivers
  • Partner with manufacturing and engineering to collect and evaluate data and movements
  • Diagnose and communicate variances and trends to enable the team to take action
  • Create and maintain complex financial models to support: make vs buy, should cost/cost estimation, and strategic cost decisions.
  • Develop materials to clearly communicate results of analysis in an accessible manner to non-finance personnel
  • Set, maintain, and monitor cost targets for the product, and drive cost reduction processes
  • Partner with accounting to ensure high quality financial results and assist in year-end financial audits
  • Constantly improve everything and help make the business stronger

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 5+ year’s experience in a startup, investment banking, management consulting, aviation or a manufacturing organization
  • Experience working with a bill of materials
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Data Science (with an emphasis on Finance)
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and related technologies, Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred
  • Basic SQL, conceptual understanding of relational databases
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Exceptional organization skills and an impeccable attention to detail
  • A drive to overcome any barriers to get the job done
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills

Desired

  • Experience with BI reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau)
  • Experience with FP&A tools (Hyperion, OneStream, Vena)
  • MBA or CPA Plus

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $106,700 - $142,300/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
