Overview

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Part Handling Technician. This role is responsible for the safe, timely, and compliant movement of composite parts across the Joby Production area at the Marina, CA campus. A Part Handing Technician ensures parts are transported without damage, contamination, or safety risk while meeting standard lead times to support uninterrupted production flow. 1st shift Monday - Thursday: 7am-5:30pm2nd shift Monday-Thursday: 5:30pm-4:00am3rd shift: Friday-Sunday 6:00am-6:30pm

Responsibilities

  • Safely move composite parts, tools, and fixtures between buildings, work centers, and storage locations across the Marina, Ca campus.
  • Follow all safety protocols, lifting requirements, and traffic rules to prevent injury and part damage.
  • Meet defined standard lead times for part movement to support production schedules.
  • Verify part identification, routing, and documentation prior to transport.
  • Protect parts from FOD, environmental exposure, and handling damage during movement.
  • Use material handling equipment (dedicated vehicles, carts, dollies, forklifts, etc.) in accordance with training and certification.
  • Coordinate with production, quality, and logistics teams to prioritize urgent or time‑critical moves.
  • Report and escalate safety concerns, damaged parts, or process deviations immediately.
  • Maintain organized staging, storage, and transit areas to support 5S standards.
  • Support audits and continuous improvement efforts related to material flow and safety.
  • Adhere to all EHS requirements and Joby safety policies at all times.
  • Maintain composite handling best practices to avoid dents, delamination, and contamination.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable composite process specifications and handling standards.

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, and maneuver large or delicate composite parts weighing up to 50lbs aided or unaided.
  • Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety and quality, and problem-solving skills.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to meet time‑sensitive commitments.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend written and verbal instructions, detailed blueprints and other similar authorized drawings and documents and be capable of doing basic mathematical calculations.
  • Have no known allergies to epoxies or other composites materials.

Desired

  • Experience handling composite or aerospace components.
  • Forklift, crane, or material handling equipment certification.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or 5S environments.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors across the Marina campus/
  • Experience in a high-volume production environment that relies on a well-defined process to achieve maximum efficiency.

Additional Information

The target base pay for this position is $18-$32/hr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
