Overview
Joby Aviation is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Technician with an Electrical focus to join our Facilities Operations team. In this role, you will maintain, troubleshoot, and improve critical infrastructure across our manufacturing, office, and laboratory campus. While your primary expertise will be in electrical systems, you will also play a key role in supporting HVAC, plumbing, low-voltage systems, and general building maintenance to ensure maximum campus reliability and safety.
This role is a temporary position.
Responsibilities
- Electrical Systems: Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems up to 480V, including lighting, panels, transformers, distribution equipment, generators, and UPS systems
- Facilities Support: Assist with HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing systems, as well as general building repairs, equipment installations, and workspace modifications
- Low Voltage & Security: Support campus access control, CCTV hardware, and low-voltage cabling infrastructure in coordination with IT and Security teams
- Project & Vendor Management: Assist with contractor coordination, facility improvement projects, equipment commissioning, and emergency response activities
- Operations Tracking: Manage work orders, document preventative maintenance, and track inventory using Smartsheet and facility tracking systems
- Team Leadership: Serve as a technical resource for electrical issues and mentor junior technicians on the team
Required
5+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, or as a commercial/industrial electrician
Deep expertise in electrical troubleshooting and a strong working knowledge of commercial/industrial electrical systems
Proficiency with power tools, diagnostic instruments, and electrical test equipment
Ability to interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset
Flexibility to participate in on-call rotations and after-hours emergency support
Desired
Active California Journeyman Electrician Certification
Experience working within an active manufacturing or aerospace facility
Hands-on experience with generators, ATS equipment, and emergency power infrastructure
NFPA 70E and OSHA safety training
Basic HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical troubleshooting experience
Additional Information
The target base pay for this position is $31-$37/hr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
