Job Description
This position resides on our Programs team and reports to the Senior Program Coordinator of CA Workforce Programs. The Program Coordinator of CA Apprenticeship is responsible for supporting CAF’s Healthy School Food Pathway (HSFP) program in California. This role will be responsible for supporting individuals in both English and Spanish, from the application process through program completion, as part of the nine-month registered Apprenticeship program.
About the Healthy School Food Pathway (HSFP) Program
HSFP is a work-based learning experience that prepares individuals for job opportunities in healthy, scratch-cook school food programs. The HSFP program focuses on supporting workforce readiness and professional growth for new and incumbent school food operators. The pipeline from entry-level positions through management and school food leadership offers professionals the resources, hands-on training, and network to become confident leaders with in-depth knowledge and experience in creating and running successful scratch-cook meal programs. This includes an emphasis on CAF’s 5 key areas: food, finance, facilities, human resources, and marketing.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for individuals during the application and lead applicant engagement, participant selection (including interviews), and onboarding processes of the Apprenticeship to ensure participants have the information needed to be successful in the program and all necessary documentation is submitted.
- Identify and support Pre-Apprenticeship graduates as they engage with other Chef Ann Foundation programming, including facilitating the hand-off of graduates to the Apprenticeship program application process.
- Support program participants during the course of the program to ensure they stay on track to complete all related supplementary instruction (RSI) and master all required learning competencies.
- Work with CAF’s School Food Operations team and external subject matter experts to develop and implement additional training and support for Apprentices as needed.
- Support management of Apprenticeship program timeline such as key deliverables to ensure adequate planning and implementation of the Apprenticeship program.
- Support maintenance of Apprenticeship program registration and support ongoing reporting and document organization as required by state and federal partners.
- Support coordination efforts for in-person training events as needed.
- Work closely with the CA Workforce Programs team to leverage work and knowledge, share resources, track program statistics, and report on workforce development initiatives.
Basic Responsibilities
- Update and create key program documents, instructions, slide decks, timelines, etc., as needed for each Apprenticeship cohort.
- Support launch and implementation of new Apprenticeship cohort applications, including marketing of the program and updating of application questions, application tracking, and applicant assistance.
- Maintain and update the program learning platform (ie, Moodle Workplace) for each cohort of Apprentices.
- Facilitate and complete the translation of educational materials, program instructions, and other key information into Spanish.
- Support with the scheduling, planning, and facilitation of virtual learning sessions.
- Maintain files and necessary documentation regarding program participants for the team.
- Condense large amounts of information into easy-to-read reports, including data collection, cleaning, and chart creation.
- Suggest program efficiencies and opportunities and follow through as appropriate.
- Support technology integration as directed, especially around the education experience of Apprentices.
- Support identification and partnership development with key stakeholders across diverse industries that will support the education and experience of program participants.
- Maintain awareness/knowledge of child nutrition legislative advocacy efforts, emphasizing California.
- Attend steering committees and coalition meetings to report to the team on program/organization alignment opportunities as assigned.
- Coordinate program travel, in-person events, and material needs; Schedule event travel as directed by the supervisor and communicate travel plans with the team to ensure efficient use of time and travel funds.
- Maintain understanding and awareness of federal and state policies related to program operations.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of this position.
Position Requirements
- Bilingual English/Spanish required;
- Ability to travel for work a maximum of 6 times a year via plane and car, particularly within California;
- Ability to learn and engage with new learning technology programs;
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and GSuite platforms;
- Ability to work virtually and participate in meetings in the Pacific time zone (PST/PDT);
- Experience in school food and/or workforce development is preferred;
- Experience in program planning and management preferred;
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Compensation
Compensation ranges between $23.47 - $30.11 an hour and will be commensurate with the candidate’s previous experience and credentials. The Chef Ann Foundation is a great place to work and provides its staff with a competitive benefits package, including health insurance reimbursement, professional development, a generous paid time off program, and a 403(b) retirement plan. We are a fully remote organization whose headquarters are located in Boulder, CO, with team members spread across the US. This position is remote, but must be based in California.
